Road Biking in Alta Badia
As Alpine climber Reinhold Messner once said, "The Dolomites are not the highest mountains in the world, but they are the most beautiful!"
No other Alpine mountain range can compare with the impressive landscape found in the Dolomites. The mountainous scenery surrounding the Sella Massif is one of the most beautiful sights in the world and is officially on UNESCO's Universal Heritage of Humanity list. The unique, natural wonder of the landscape is a paradise for recreational road bikers, and Alta Badia is the ideal starting point for a number of itineraries.
All passionate cyclists know that the Dolomite passes have marked a rich and glorious page in the history of the Giro d'Italia. The legendary roads of unforgettable runs by great champions such as Bartali and Coppi lie here, and each year, their efforts are re-lived again and again by renowned protagonists of modern cycling.
The Maratona dles Dolomites, one of the most important amateur cycling events in all of Europe, takes place along these routes, attracting thousands of enthusiastic fans. The great success of the Maratona dles Dolomites is without a doubt due to the magnificent setting of the Dolomites and the routes that wind through its incredible scenery, as well as the organizational efforts of an entire community that is dedicated to creating a first class competition with top-notch logistics, capable of accommodating a large number of competitors. In recent editions, over nine thousand cyclists have taken part in the various categories and routes.
